# Reply to HR about your comment

> When HR replies to one of your survey comments, you get an email. Open its link to read the reply and answer. HR sees your messages as from "Employee", with your department, not your name.

HR can reply to a comment you wrote in a Pulse survey. When they do, you get an email with the subject "You got a reply from HR Admin of" followed by your company's Vantage Circle programme name. You can't start a conversation yourself. It starts when HR replies.

1. **Open the link in the email.** The conversation opens without signing in.
2. **Read the thread.** Your comment is at the top, with the question, the score you gave and when you wrote it. HR's messages are on the left and yours are on the right.
3. **Write your reply** in the box that says "Type a message here". You have up to 1,000 characters.
4. Select **Send**. A message says "Conversation saved." and your reply appears in the thread.

You can reply as many times as you like, and you don't have to reply at all. HR doesn't get an email when you reply. They see it the next time they open the conversation. You get an email each time HR replies.

## Who sees the conversation

The page says: "This is an anonymous conversation between you and the concerned team. The concerned team member with access to this comment will be able to see the conversation."

- **HR sees your messages as from "Employee", with your department.** Your name isn't shown in the conversation.
- **Other HR admins who can read survey comments** can see the conversation and reply too. You don't see their names.
- **Your department and your words can point to you.** In a small team, HR can sometimes tell who wrote it. The same goes for details only you would know.

If the survey wasn't anonymous, HR can already see your name with your answers. See [Is my Pulse survey anonymous?](/en/help/pulse/answer-surveys/is-my-pulse-survey-anonymous/)

Don't forward the email. Anyone who opens its link can read the conversation and reply as you.

## If something goes wrong

**"Max characters allowed: 1000"** Your reply is at the limit. Shorten it, or send it in two parts.
