> If your company uses Get Recognized, select Get Recognized on your home feed. Enter the person's email and a short note. They get an email asking them to recognize you.

Use this when someone has thanked you over email or chat, or in person, and you'd like it on the platform. You'll only see it if your company uses Get Recognized.

1. On your home feed, select **Get Recognized** in the panel on the left. If you can also nominate people, you can instead select **Recognize**, then **Request a recognition** under **Get recognized**.
2. Under **Who would you like to ask?**, enter the person's email and pick them from the list.
3. Under **Add a supporting note**, say what you'd like recognized. You have up to 500 characters.
4. Select **Send**.

You'll see "Successfully raised the recognition request to" followed by their name. They get an email and a notification. The link in the email opens a badge with you already chosen. What they send, and whether they send anything, is up to them.

## Asking someone outside your company

If your company allows it, you can also ask people outside it, such as a client. Type their full email address. If they're not in your company, you'll see "This person is external to your organization, but you can still request recognition. They'll receive an email with your request note".

- Their link works for 30 days.
- They write their name and a message on a short form. It isn't posted straight away.
- You get a notification that you have a post to review. Select **Badges** in the panel on the left, then use the **Pending Review** filter on the **Received** tab. Select **Review**.
- Select **Publish to Feed** to post it, or **Don't Publish** to keep it private.

You can have one open request to the same outside person at a time.

## If something goes wrong

**"User not found"** The person isn't in your company, and your company doesn't allow outside requests.

**"Sending request to self not allowed"** You entered your own email.

**"A recognition request to ... is already awaiting a response."** You've already asked this outside person, and they haven't answered yet.

**"Enter a valid email address"** Check the email for typos.

These steps are for the web.
