# What happens on a work anniversary

> When an employee reaches a number of years that has a milestone award for their country, Vantage Circle celebrates it automatically: a yearbook opens about a week before, and on the day they get the points, a feed post and an email.

Milestone awards run on their own. Nobody nominates or approves anything. Each day, Vantage Circle looks for employees whose work anniversary matches a milestone award for their country, using the date of joining in your employee data.

Take Priya, who joined Acme Corp in India five years ago. Your company has a 5-year award for India with 5,000 points and a yearbook.

## About a week before

Priya's yearbook opens. Colleagues in her department get an email asking them to add a message. If the award includes employee stories, Priya also gets an email asking her to answer the story questions and invite colleagues, with her manager copied. Three days before, colleagues who haven't written get a reminder.

This is the default timing and audience. Some companies have a different schedule or a different group of colleagues. You can follow the messages on **Recognition → Service milestone → Upcoming celebrations**.

## On the day

- The 5,000 points are added to Priya's available balance.
- A post with the 5-year badge appears on the recognition feed.
- Priya gets an email. With a yearbook, the book is attached as a PDF.

If there's a milestone catalog for 5 years in India, Priya can also pick one gift from it without spending points. Without one, she uses the full rewards catalog.

## Who isn't included

- Employees in countries the award doesn't cover.
- Employees outside the **Eligible employee groups**, if the award uses **Limit employee eligibility**.
- Employees with no date of joining in your employee data.
- Employees who turned off work anniversary posts in their profile don't get a yearbook.

## If you delete an award

If you delete a milestone award, employees stop getting points for those years, and yearbooks that have already opened still open.
