You can give budget to one person at a time here. To give budget to many people at once, use [a CSV file](/en/help/rewards-hub/budgets/allocate-budgets-with-a-csv-file/).

## Before you start

- You need to be a super admin, or an HR admin whose role includes **Allocate reward budgets**.
- At the top of **Rewards Hub → Budgets**, pick one **Country** and the **Current** budget cycle. **Allocate budget** stays greyed out on **All countries** or on an earlier cycle. Hover over it to see why.
- Check **Available in company wallet**. You can't allocate more than that country holds.

## Allocate budget

1. Select **Allocate budget**. To top up someone already in the list, open the menu on their row and select **Allocate more** instead. Their name is filled in for you.
2. If your company splits budgets by department, choose **Budget holder** or **Department** at the top.
3. Check the **Country**. It starts on the country you picked on the page. The box under it shows that country's wallet balance.
4. Under **Allocate to**, search for the person. You'll see what they hold already, for example "Currently holds 12,000." For a department, choose it from the list. You only see departments assigned to you.
5. If your company has more than one fund, choose the **Fund type**.
6. Enter the **Amount (points)**. It must be a whole number above 0. Under it you'll see what the wallet will hold afterwards.
7. Choose a **Reason**: **Budget top-up** (the default), **New program**, **Reallocation**, **Correction** or **Other**. Add a **Note (optional)** of up to 240 characters if it helps.
8. Select **Allocate**.

You'll see "Budget allocated". The points leave the company wallet straight away and the holder can award them at once. A person gets an email saying they've been allocated a budget. If your company uses Microsoft Teams notifications, they get a Teams message too.

To see the record later, open the menu on the holder's row and select **View transactions**.

## If a holder runs out

When a holder has used their budget before the next top-up, select **Allocate more** on their row, or [move points](/en/help/rewards-hub/budgets/transfer-budget-or-take-it-back/) from a holder who isn't using theirs. For what managers see on their side, see [Lead your team](/en/help/recognition/lead-your-team/).

## If something goes wrong

- **"Enter 3,60,000 or less."** The amount is more than the country's wallet holds.
- **"The company wallet is empty, so there is nothing to allocate."** The wallet for that country has no points.
- **"Allocation failed"** with "Insufficient budget available for the selected country for allocation". Someone else used the wallet after you opened the form. Close it and try again with the new balance.
- **Department budgets:** if your company splits budgets by department, a person's budget comes out of their department's budget. The form still shows the company wallet, so the allocation can fail even when the company wallet has enough. Allocate to the department first, then to the person.

An allocation can't be undone. You can [return a holder's unused points](/en/help/rewards-hub/budgets/transfer-budget-or-take-it-back/) to the wallet instead.
