The app is called Vantage Circle in Teams. It brings the Vantage Circle website into Teams and adds a way to recognize colleagues from any chat or channel.

Before you start

  • Your company has to use Vantage Circle in Teams. Vantage Circle turns this on for your company and links it to your company’s Microsoft account. There’s no setting for it in the admin dashboard. Admins: ask your Vantage Circle account manager.
  • You need a Vantage Circle account with the same email address as your Microsoft work account.
  • If you can’t find the app in Teams, ask your HR team.

Open the Vantage Circle app. It signs you in with your Microsoft work account, so most people don’t have to type anything.

If that doesn’t work, you see Welcome back with a sign-in form:

  • Enter your email and Password, then select Sign in. Use Forgot Password? if you need a new one.
  • Or, under OR CONTINUE WITH, select Microsoft.

What’s in the app

  • Home shows Vantage Circle as it looks on the website: your feed, recognition and the other products your company uses.
  • Help answers common questions about the Teams app.

Recognize someone from a chat or channel

  1. In a chat or channel, open Vantage Circle from the message box and select Recognize.
  2. Under “Choose an option to get started”, pick one:
    • Appreciate: select Send a badge to thank someone with a badge.
    • Nominate: select Give an award to nominate someone for an award. You only see this if you’re allowed to nominate.
    • Greet: send a greeting card. You only see this if your company uses greetings.
  3. Choose the people, write your message and post it, as you would on the website.

When you appreciate someone and the post is Shared and not scheduled, Teams adds a recognition card to your message. Send it so everyone in the chat sees it. The card has a View in Feed button.

Share in Teams. When you post a Shared recognition from the Home tab, a Share in Teams box is ticked. It opens Teams’ share window so you can post the recognition in a chat or channel too. Untick it if you don’t want to share.

Notifications

If your company has Teams notifications turned on, the Vantage Circle bot sends you cards in Teams, for example:

  • when someone recognizes you, with View in Feed
  • colleagues’ birthdays (Send Wishes) and work anniversaries (Quickshare)
  • a Pulse survey waiting for you, with Start Survey
  • reminders to recognize someone, with Recognize Now

The bot only sends notifications. You can’t chat with it. Your Teams activity feed also shows alerts for recognition you receive, likes and comments on your posts, approvals waiting for you, and budget and points updates.

Recognition given on the website or the mobile app goes to the people recognized, not to a Teams channel.

If something goes wrong

“Access via MS Teams is currently disabled for your organization. Please contact your administrator.” Your company doesn’t have Teams access turned on. Ask your HR team.

“token not found in db!” or “Your account was not found on Vantage Circle. Please contact your administrator.” No Vantage Circle account matches your Microsoft work email. Ask your HR team to check the email on your account.

“Your account isn’t active. Please contact your Admin.” Teams couldn’t get your Microsoft profile. Close and reopen Teams, then try again. If it keeps happening, ask your HR team.

“Microsoft sign-in failed. Please close and reopen the app, then try again.” Close the Vantage Circle app and open it again.

“Unable to connect to Microsoft Teams. Please close and reopen the app.” Close Teams completely, open it again and reopen Vantage Circle.

You don’t see Nominate or Greet. Nominate is only for people allowed to nominate. Greet only shows if your company uses greetings.

For other sign-in messages, see I can’t sign in.
