What happens to budgets when people join, leave or move

A leaver's unused budget goes back on its own. A change of manager moves nothing. New managers get budget at the next allocation day if a rule covers them, or when you allocate it by hand.

A budget belongs to the person who holds it, not to their team. Here’s what happens when people change.

Someone leaves

When an employee is deactivated, their remaining budget in every country goes back on its own, to the company wallet for that country. If your company splits budgets by department, it goes back to their department’s budget. You don’t need to do anything.

Points they’d already awarded stay with the employees who received them.

This covers the Rewards fund. If your company has more than one fund, check the leaver’s balance in the other funds and return it yourself.

Someone changes manager

Nothing moves. The employee’s new manager doesn’t get any of the old manager’s budget, and the old manager keeps what they hold. If the old manager now has too much, transfer points to the new one.

Someone changes department

If your company splits budgets by department, the person’s remaining budget goes back to their old department’s budget. From then on, their budget comes from their new department. If it doesn’t, nothing changes.

A new manager joins

Nobody gets budget the moment they join. To give a new budget holder points, allocate budget to them.
