Nominate someone for an award

Select Recognize, then Give an award. Choose the people, the award and its value, write why they deserve it and send it. Most nominations go to an approver before anyone gets points.

You can nominate people only if your company has given you permission. If you can, you’ll see Nominate when you select Recognize on your home feed, or Start recognizing here…. Select Give an award. On a computer, you can also select Nominate in the panel on the left.

If a colleague has let you nominate on their behalf, you’re first asked whether you’re nominating for them or for yourself.

  1. Choose who. Search by name or email under Colleagues, select people, then select Next. Most companies allow up to 50 people in one nomination. Yours may allow up to 70. Your company may limit who you can find, for example to your own department.
  2. Answer the questions. If your company uses recognition questions, answer them. The awards you see next depend on your answers.
  3. Choose the award. Pick a category with Category if there’s more than one, or use Search awards. A thumbs-up marks an award recommended for the people you chose. A star marks a panel award.
  4. Choose the value. Under Award Value, pick an amount if the award offers more than one. Each person is listed by country, with a tick if they’re eligible. If your company shows it, you’ll see your remaining budget for each country. Select Next.
  5. Choose the approver. If your company shows this step, pick someone under Select Approver. If you see Add Cc, add people to copy into the winner’s email. Select Next.
  6. Write the nomination.
    • The Recognition Message appears on the feed post if the nomination is approved. You have up to 1,000 characters.
    • Fill in Business Justification and any other boxes your company added. Approvers read these with your nomination. They can also appear in admin recognition reports. Some boxes also ask for a 1 to 5 rating, which you have to give.
    • If you see Attach supporting files, add up to 5 images, videos or documents of up to 5 MB each. They go to your approver, not the feed.
    • Pick tags or values if your company uses them. Fields marked * are required.
  7. Choose who can see it. In the footer, pick Shared, Restricted or Private. You only see the options the award allows. See Who sees your recognition post.
  8. Send it. For a private post, select Post. Otherwise select Preview, check the post, then Submit.

Panel awards work a little differently. Most take one person per nomination. You don’t choose an approver; the nomination goes to a panel for voting. Select Submit to send it. See Vote on a panel award or announce the winner.

What happens next

You’ll see “An email has been sent to the Approver!” The approver gets an email and a notification. Nobody gets points, and nothing goes on the feed, until the nomination is approved.

Some awards need two approvals. You get an email when the first approver passes it on, when it’s approved, and when it’s declined. A decline email includes the approver’s reason.

If you see “Your nomination is successful!” instead, no approval was needed and the award has been given.

When it’s approved, the people you nominated get an email. If the award has a certificate, it’s attached.

Track, edit or cancel a nomination

Select Awards in the panel on the left, open the Given tab and use View by to choose Approved, Pending, Declined or Panel Award.

  • If your company allows it, Pending nominations have Cancel. You can cancel only before the approver acts.
  • If your company allows it, Pending and Declined nominations have Edit. It reopens the form so you can change it and send it again.

Whose budget pays

That depends on how your company set it up. The points come from your approver’s budget or from your own. If they come from yours, you can’t give more than you have.

If something goes wrong

You don’t see Nominate or Give an award. You don’t have permission to nominate, or your company doesn’t use awards. Ask your HR team.

“No approver(s) found” No approver is set up for this award and these people. Ask your HR team.

“The total amount being awarded exceeds the available budget” You don’t have enough budget in that country. Lower the value or remove someone.

“Not eligible, as your previous nomination for the same user is still pending!” You already nominated one of these people for this award, and it’s waiting for approval.

“Not eligible, as minimum applicable months for this award is 6 months from DOJ!” Someone you chose hasn’t worked long enough for this award. The number of months depends on the award.

“Not eligible, as the awardee grade is restricted from this award!” The award isn’t open to someone’s job grade. Choose a different award.

“More then 50 receivers are not permissible.” Reduce this nomination to 50 people.

These steps are for the web.
