How AI sentiment and summaries work
An AI model reads each written comment and marks it positive, neutral or negative every two hours. Daily AI summaries appear on Comments and Overview. All of it is generated, so check anything important against the comments themselves.
Pulse uses AI in four places: sentiment on each comment, summaries of comments, a question box for searching comments, and reply drafts. There’s no separate AI area in the menu. Each feature sits on the page where you use it.
Sentiment on each comment
An AI model reads every written comment and marks it Positive, Neutral or Negative. It runs every two hours, so a new comment can wait up to two hours for its label. Until then, it counts as not analysed. On Pulse → Comments, the Total comments tile says how many, such as “188 not analysed yet”.
Sentiment comes from the words, not the rating. Someone can rate a question 5 and still write something negative. Sentiment doesn’t change the engagement score, which uses ratings only. See How the engagement score is calculated.
Summaries
- On Pulse → Comments, select AI summary. You’ll see a Summary and Key insights for the comments in your survey selection. If you’ve selected a sentiment tile, the summary covers only those comments. Your Department, Category and Tags filters don’t change it.
- On Pulse → Overview, a card marked AI-powered and Beta lists Strengths, an Area to improve and a Recommendation for one survey.
Both are written once a day, so today’s comments show up in tomorrow’s summary.
Ask your comments
On Pulse → Comments, type a yes or no question in Ask your comments, such as “Is this about the new office?”, and select Ask. The AI checks up to 300 comments from your current selection and lists the ones that match. A note says how many it checked and adds “Matches are chosen by AI and can be wrong.”
Suggested tags and reply drafts
When you tag a comment and AI has a suggestion, it’s at the top under Suggested by AI. When you reply, AI help writes drafts in different tones. Nothing is applied or sent until you choose it. See Read and tag comments and Reply to comments with AI help.
Read it with care
Every label and summary is generated, and the screen marks summaries “AI-generated from employee comments”. Use them to find what to read first, then read the comments themselves before you act.
