How does AI sentiment analysis work on employee feedback?

When employees leave open-ended responses in a survey, Vantage Pulse automatically analyses the text and tags each comment as Positive, Neutral, or Negative. This happens without any manual input from HR.

Where to find it

Go to Insights in the left navigation and select Comments. Each comment will show its sentiment label. You can filter the full list by sentiment to focus on what matters most. For example, view only Negative responses to prioritize follow-ups.

Overall Feedback Summary

At the top of the Comments page, the Overall Feedback Summary card gives you an AI-generated overview of all responses combined. It pulls out the key themes and highlights patterns that might not be obvious when reading comments one by one.

This is useful before leadership meetings or when you need a quick brief on how a particular survey performed.

Word Cloud

For open-ended questions, a Word Cloud is also generated showing the most frequently used words in responses. Words are sized by frequency and colour-coded by sentiment, giving you a fast visual read on what’s dominating the conversation.

You can filter the word cloud by sentiment to see which words appear most in positive versus negative feedback.
