The AIRe Framework
Recognition programs must be designed, executed, and reviewed from the lens of Appreciation, Incentivization, Reinforcement, and Emotional Connect (AIRe) to make them successful.
Appreciation(A), Incentivization(I), and Reinforcement(R) are the key themes of recognition, while Emotional Connect(E) is the driving force.
Appreciation
Appreciation refers to an acknowledgment of employee contributions. But it is not only about acknowledging great performance or extraordinary results. It can also be for things like day-to-day tasks and teamwork efforts.
Incentivization
Incentivization is the practice of building incentives into an arrangement or system to motivate the workforce. It can be both monetary and non-monetary. It can be a goal in itself which employees strive towards.
Reinforcement
Reinforcement refers to positive communication based on the demonstration of key behaviors. Acts of reinforcement serve to guide employees towards the desired behaviors that the organization wants to promote.
Emotional Connect
Emotional Connect is the association of strong feelings with the act of recognition. These feelings relate not just to the employees being recognized but to the one bestowing the recognition in the first place. It is the driving force of authentic and impactful recognition.
